Bastille Day or La FĂȘte Nationale, a French national day on the 14th July and also Dan Smith's (Singer) birthday was the reason for the four man groups stage name. The band got together in 2010 after Dan travelled to Ireland in search of a band. Bastille have since then gone on to release an amazing album, "Bad Blood."
The bands music style Indie Rock and this makes it very easy to listen to in various situations, whether it be doing or work or getting ready to go out. As well it makes it very easy to remix and some artists have done a great job at it. For instance Kat Krazy's remix of Pompeii is excellent and even part of a "Made In Chelsea" episode.
I have got to say when the song "Pompeii' first appeared in the iTunes Stores' Top Singles sections I just dismissed it. I first heard the song the day after the band played at my student union, 53 Degrees at UCLan. I loved it. So I listened to more of their songs and loved them. I was annoyed at myself for waiting so long to listen to them as I could have seen them live the previous night. Since then all my friends have decided I look the image of Dan the singer due to my hair and fashion sense. They frequently call me Bastille and I even have it as my name on my door at university. Bastille are a great band not just because I look like a member but because their songs are all worthy of being successful singles and come together to make a great album.
The album has recently been extended to include a few more songs that include their new single "Of The Night". The extended album has been titled "All This Bad Blood" and is available on iTunes.
